Well, I hope to be. I picked up a new instructional DVD. Ken Perlman's "Intermediate Clawhammer Banjo", to be precise. I have used his beginner DVD in the past, so I thought this would work well for me. I don't know of any clawhammer teachers closer than a 45 minute drive away, so I chose this route to try to advance my playing abilities. I watched the whole thing (60 minutes) last night. I was lost by the end of it, but those songs really sounded nice. I hope I can get to that level with a little hard work. (not Ken's level, but at least to have the abilility to play using the intermediate techniques described) I am both intimidated and anxious to start. Maybe I can start on the first exercise tonight. Wish me luck!! Also, give me a little time, if I don't just "lose it", I will post some new and better played songs here.

Wow! I thought there was no tutorial clawhammer books or DVD's. I have never found anything available in England. We can get clawhammer tabs, but not much else. DVDs are usually very well thought out and planned. Take each step in turn, practice and really believe in yourself, because it sounds like you have a great start. You have the aptitude and a good tutorial. I wish you lots of luck.
