Letters

Posted by blamethebanjo on Tuesday, April 15, 2008

The past two days I sat down and wrote short greeting notes to evryone on my friends list.Friendship, like a garden must be tended and I have been neglecting my precious field of friends here.I am always happy to see something from one of you whether it be a comment on a blog or song and letters you write. So many of you hadn't heard from me in quite some time and I wanted to reach out and let you know how much I appreciate and care for you.

The response was wonderful! Nearly every person answered and some of the letters were powerful and touching beyond expectation. We are all so much alike in so many ways. Each of us has our own set of cicumstances, wants and needs and battles as we travel along together.Together, that is the important part.Too often we feel alone or misunderstood and fall for the lie that nobody really cares.Never believe it.

Sometimes timing is everything, like playing the banjo it is the difference between what you said and what you wish you would have said.A dear friend in Kentucky once asked me to come to his home one Saturday night and play for him.I promised within the next two weeks I would. He passed away within a few days of our conversation leaving a permanent sadness in my heart that won't go away.

When something is on your heart that would encourage or make someone else happy don't wait to lift them up. Be free with your kindness and friendship.Generously offer it.There is no telling who you might make a difference for when you shine your light on their path.I can tell you one person who will be blessed by it.You.The love you show comes back to you ten fold.

I am a poor typist but the time I spent writing to all my friends was well spent.I could have been watching TV or wasting time on other things.I am so glad I followed my heart. Each of you has touched my life in some way and it was an honor to be able to let you know in my small way that I care.I am glad I didn't wait.

I have another dear friend who I have neglected and kept waiting after he gave everything he had to save me from all harm.I speak to him still but don't always do the things he would have me do.I make excuses that I don't quite understand the details enough or I blame someone else for my lack of faithfulness. If not for forgiveness all of us would be without hope.In the end, there is nobody to blame but me.When the book is closed I will be the author,me alone. When my story is gone over with me more than anything, I hope to hear well done.I have much editing to do but thank God I didn't wait too long.
