Banjo as Freshmen

Posted by Joanchek on Monday, April 14, 2008

We had a fun day at Temple U. yesterday at "Experience Temple Day."  We left very early, before 6:30! and were at the student center a couple of minutes after 9.  I only had a little anxiety crossing the high bridges on the turnpike, which I managed by trying to nap in the back seat.  Hey, whatever works...

We started with coffee and heard three speakers--the dean of Admissions, and two students, a freshman and a senior.  Then we walked to the Science building and heard two presentations by an academic advisor and the assistant dean of the Pharmacy school.  Both were very informative, and answered just about all of the questions we had.  Then it was off for a walking tour of campus.  It was a lovely day in the city, so that was pleasant.  We headed back to the student center for lunch and to visit lots of tables with information on everything from student government to international studies.  Laine came home with a bag of papers and handfuls of little promo items.  She said it was like carrying a Christmas stocking around.  We came home and collapsed.  After a long hard nap I worked from 9 to 1.  A long day but a very productive one for us!

Mr. is home this week on 5 days of use-it-or-lose-it vacation, which means that I need to keep him busy while I am working.  He has his list of honeydews, and he's very good about helping out if I ask, so I think we will survive.  He's not used to being home and we girls are not used to him being here, so there are always a couple of days of adjustment come vacation times.

I worked like a rented mule today, and got some house-business done, as well as laundry and real supper, so I did not have a minute to practice.  I'll try to make up for that tomorrow.  I really miss playing, even for a few minutes, on super-busy days so I try to make an effort to pick a little something if that's all I can manage.  Today it just wasn't gonna happen, but tomorrow it will.
