Last night I was jamming with a full band for the first time. Usually I have been picking with others a few at a time, or just with another guy. We had the whole thing going last night. It was really fun.
Most of the pickers there were from an established band and they were playing songs I didn't know. They would call out the key and the changes and I would just follow along. My buddy Jim was picking banjo too and I could follow him and them pretty well. I wasn't as good as I wanted to be but I was okay. Considering I didn't know but a few of the songs I felt okay about the whole experience.
I have to confess that I did switch to dobro near the end. Two banjos seemed one too many on a song or two.
I had arranged the venue and the fellow who ran the place was trying to get us a manager etc when we were just jamming. I guess it all turned out okay. Maybe now I will get that monthly jam I have been searching for.
