Especially If you are on the east coast, check this out. I'm gonna do you a favor.
Last Saturday evening, I went to see the musical group, Leahy. They are a group made up of 11 brothers and sisters from Canada. Their music is hard to classify, but it leans toward Celtic. There were 7 of the siblings on this tour, 3 fiddle players, a drummer, one bass player and another gal played electric guitar, banjo, and mandolin, and one on piano. This was topped off by some incredible step dancing too. This performance was fantastic. I reserve the word amazing for only supernatural things, but this was very close to amazing. I had 5th row seats and the tickets were only $27.00 for me. The music they played was very exciting. Most of the numbers they do are original pieces or medleys, but they do a fantastic Orange Blossom Special fairly early on. At one point after about the first 1 1/2 hours, they started passing around instruments. One of the exchanges that happenned was when Angus, (I just love that name), slid in next to Erin on the piano, and took over for her. She had just come off of a wild ragtime medley and they were into another complicated song. She picked up the violin, cold to the instrument, she turns it upside down and starts playing away. After a couple minutes of this she turns it right side up just to show she can do it that way too. There was much to see the whole show, but too much to write here.
Click on the link below, check the schedule, if you are anywhere within a couple of hours of one of these shows, go. Don't hesitate, don't buck about the $, don't think it's not for you, just go. And take someone with you. They will thank later. You will be their hero.
