Posted by maryzcox on Wednesday, March 5, 2008

This is what Bob bought me for Christmas.

It is not a banjo, but it is really fun to play.

Mary, you need to make sure you wear fringe when you play it.  What fun!

Mary , I noticed in the video review of Greg's exhibit at Namm they had a parlor guitar hanging on the wall with a straight bridge and old fashion shape as I recall.  I emailed Greg about availability of that guitar and he said it was a prototype and no decision has been made by Recording King to produce it yet. (at least that is what I recall)  I am hoping that they will produce a parlor guitar that has nice tone but very little sustain.  Through from my western swing days I love that guitar there.  I have an 1870s parlor with ladder-bracing to a luthier for restoration (been there a year now) and no  word yet.  BTW, I finally learned Snowdrop from your CD and Tab, and asked my guitar paying friend to listen to your CD to accompany me on it.  I look forward to your next CD.    I miss all of the gang from our school.  I did get to play with Pat and here friends on evening at Clifftop.  Oops, I am rambling out here in W. Ks on a job that just won't lwt me rest.  Brad

That guitar is just so cool. Does it have a nice sound as well, or is it mostly for home decoration?

Hello,

It actually plays and sounds good. It is not a $6000 guitar--but for $149--with matching cardboard box case, embroidered strap and a booklet with 10 Cowboy tunes--it can't be beat. :)

Since I'm not a guitarist, I'll be taking it to guitar camp this year as I think it would cheer up any class. :)

Yes--I do too!  They come out with some pretty cool stuff from time to time. Did you see those ukelele lunchboxes they were offering at Elderly Instruments? They had metal lunchboxes with a uke neck so you could take your lunch and then play the ukelele at lunch. :) They had some really cool Elvis lunchboxes and some nice Beatles ones too.  Anyway, I never got one of those, but it was awful temping. :)

Bob bought that for you so that HE could play it!  Careful, he might buy you a motorcycle next (Gee honey, can I ride your bike to the store to pick up a few things?).
