So I have only been picking seriously (meaning trying to get better) for about a month. Today I thought to myself...self, you can play cripple creek. You play some of blue moon on Kentucky. and just yesterday and the day before you learned foggy mountain breakdown. That one is still a little slow. But the point is that I thought to myself that I should start learning roll patterns and practicing them everyday. As well as scales etc. In band and such I did scales as a warm up, usually on a marimba. When I played trumpet the same. So that is my new goal be fore learning any more songs...and getting that Foggy mountain breakdown a little faster. LOL. I also thought today...I know this may be a little soon but I sure do want an archtop. Nothing wrong with collecting if you ask me. I have lots of drums that I have acquired over the years. Now that I am a banjo player...even if I'm not that good a one...I feel like I want more. Whatever...I'm getting a big tax return. What's wrong with spurlging a little. Well...that's all folks. i have cd's of music. Nothing educational. I have a book that came with my banjo that my girlfriend uese mroe than me. I have been mostly going off tabs. I'll pick that earl scruggs book soon I guess. seems to look like it'll do me good.

Learnlng tabs did me little good over time (I forget them soon). Best learning I had was playing along with my favorite CD (set on repeat), figuring out what key each song was in, and then picking out the melody. Good pickin!
