So I am trying to do an arrangement. There is this song, Skeleton Dance off the Dungeon Master soundtrack. (Actually, music inspired by the game... anyway)
The entire soundtrack is done on a synthesizer, but they songs sound like real instruments. This specific piece sounds like a marimba, and the way it is done seems to lend itself pretty well to banjo.
I took a music note picker to sort of identify the notes played, then picked the notes closest to it on the banjo. I can't quite do it totally by ear yet, but this is good ear training.
However, the banjo only goes down as far as D3 on standard tuning, and some of these notes are D1, D2, A2, and others. I'm having to transpose to a higher key.
Learning a lot already. Just doing basic notes for now, then will add some of the more complex melody.
Using MuseScore to annotate.
