My recent goal of moving on by simply learning a bunch of tunes has progressed reasonably well.
I have become aware of a new monthly session/jam set up by a local couple close to me. My first visit consisted of a lot of sitting around not playing, although I was kindly allowed to request the few tunes I did know.
So I am now embarking on learning tunes from a list pertinent to this session. 3 weeks on and I have learnt 6 more tunes so hopefully I can get involved playing a bit more next time around.(though the list has around 50).
I’m trying to learn by ear as much as possible and am working out basic versions of tunes to allow me to play at normal speed. Not much more than double thumbing the melody a lot of the time and throwing in a few drop thumbs/pull offs as I see fit. I'm still using others tablature asaa reference to keep me on track and not vary too much just yet.
When I get time I'll post a couple of new videos.
Happy new year
Andy

That is awesome to read of your progress AndyW! I am excited to read that you are now branching out and looking at places to play with other people that is fantastic progress. I love the idea that you decided to move on by just learning 6 new songs. That is creative thinking that is quite clever! Glad to read the strategy paid off!
