I had a great banjo lesson today after recovering from minor shoulder surgery, a cold and gastro, suffice to say the last couple of weeks have not been a lot of fun!
So today in my lesson we looked at the F shape F, D shaped D & an A shaped A, then I started putting those up and down the neck, in a range of versions such as a F shaped G etc, and that was great! An awesome lesson. My little pinky finger is very sore tonight. I was going to come home and practice but given the pain levels I was pleased to just do some noodling.
I am selling my first banjo, and I hope it will go to a good and happy home.
I hope that you folks are going well!

Boadicea Kate - Good to hear from you! Work those chords - they are the key to back up and working up the neck.
Here's some good video on using those new chords:
By the way - there are a bunch of really good videos here: johnboulding.com/lotw.php Use them to supplement your lessons. Look for the above videos and many more using these chord shapes under the heading Scruggs Foundational: Backup.

Sounds like a really great lesson. Work on forming those F and D shape chords until you can form them quickly and accurately. If you don't, you'll be playing catch up like me. Keep picking.
