Currently Practising Sitting in a Chair! I know A-MAZING HUH? ;) WHAT A WOMAN! :)
My banjo teacher said to me last week that I was just enjoying the sound of my banjo! LMAO! And that it was time for me to push myself out of my comfort zone! I almost said "Hey man! I am out of my zone in every arena in my life!", but I didn't want to be wimpy! I also wanted to get what he was saying.
so just recently (whilst sitting on a chair!) I did some jamming and noodling with my | G | Em | C | D7 | chords! I love this series of chords!
I have worked a bit on my homework from my banjo teacher for my simple Cripple Creek Parts A+ B. I am struggling a bit this week, so not as much as I wanted to, but every day I did some! It is hard to learn improvisation. My banjo teacher expects a lot of me. I guess I am tremendously lucky
I have worked on building up licks and improvisational techniques this week. I hope I don't get nervous and blow it at my lesson. Improvisation is hard but good.
My finger work for Blackberry Blossom for Part A has got a bit quicker! . I did some drilling for the first two bars. Practising my Forward Backward roll faster is bleeding into the rest of my playing.
I did Goodnight Ladies, and I am much faster with this one. Sometimes I make no mistakes but sometimes I make a few mistakes. I don't know if that is nerves or not being focussed?
My unknown titled Parts A + B
12 chord progression with different rolls.
roll practising - forward backward roll Mixed roll (same) Mixed roll alternative 1 + 2+ starting on Fourth String (D) Forward roll starting from the second string (B)
Groundhog several times. I am working on the first two bars.
Blackberry Blossom Part B hammer time!
I am reaching the outer limit of what I can do with my banjo, which will always be my beater banjo.
I am in an Open G (http://www.dummies.com/art-center/music/banjo/g-tuning-getting-your-banjo-strings-in-order/ It also has an image for relative G tuning as well! I am learning to tune my banjo. My banjo teacher said it can take up to a year, but I am doing it a bit better all the time. My banjo teacher was trying to show me the difference between two sounds on my banjo but my banjo is not good enough to sustain those two sounds.
I am working on The Alexander Technique in order to manage my use of my body. It is helping me be a much less contricted banjo player!

It is amazing how one day you are struggling with things like tuning then all of a sudden you seem to get it. I noticed that recently that I can change some of the tuning for different songs and it is not a struggle any more. :)
