BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE CLASSES AT HOUSE OF MUSICAL TRADITIONS, TAKOMA PARK, MD. Starting Sept. 20.
7:30 - 8:15pm: Beginner Clawhammer Banjo - $150
A class for the total beginner, which will cover holding and tuning the banjo, right hand clawhammer technique, chords in the key of G (G tuning) and your very first tunes and songs. No experience needed, but you will need your own 5-string banjo (contact HMT for rental and sale options).
8:30-9:30pm: Intermediate Clawhammer Banjo - $175
You've got the "bum-ditty" down pat, can change chords easily in G and double C tuning, and are ready for double-thumbing (drop-thumb), a couple of interesting tunings and a bump up to the next level. Get an understanding of more than just the notes, but also the nuance that makes a great player.
Cathy's instructional DVDs for both beginning and intermediate levels will be available for sale.
