How to Fix a broken Neck on a Banjo ......""Player""......

Posted by pickabanjo on Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Hey Ya'll, looks like the day is almost here.  Thursday, the 23rd, I will get the long awaited procedure "Cervical Discectomy".  What's dat? Surgeon's will go through the back of my neck and relieve the pressure on the nerve root @ C6,C7.. They will scrape the disc material that leaked out and bone and tissue , left from the degenerating Disc. A  bone graph procedure will be done in 3-5 years if the Disc Degeneration continues at it current rate. They are treating me with "Re-Clasp" twice a year, which is used to slow bone loss and help build bone strengthen.

In short " My back is broken and they are going fix it"...Be Well my friends and every chance you get "Pickabanjo"....peace

I sure hate to hear of someone your age who's having such trouble. My younger sister had a similar surgery not two weeks ago. She's still mighty sore, but said her legs feel better already.

The Doctor that is doing the Surgery is a Former Surgeon from the Cleveland Clinic. He completed a two year fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and my questions into his ability when I ask my spinal doctor was his was second to none ...
I think that his moving to Pensacola and becoming the Chief of Neuro Spinal surgery is a sign. He will do his best to clear the nerve channel with out disrupting the neighboring disc and tissue. In a few more years at the rate that the Disc Disease is spreading I will need another neck surgery before it over. He gives me two years without needed more surgery..thanks for looking in on my condition and yes I'm to young but I have been sick for 18 years so i don't fear the end results...be well...peace
