My LOTW videos have always been free and they will remain so as long as I continue to do them and leave them on my YouTube pages. But with my recent marital breakup and the expenses of relocating and upcoming litigation and just my greater burdens financially I was mulling over the idea of allowing folks to donate any amount they like via paypal. There will never be a requirement to pay to see any of the lessons, but maybe it would be acceptable and agreeable to allow folks to chip in, kind of like a tip jar, haha.
The time it takes to create, edit and upload the videos makes it hard for me to do them on a regular basis with my current situation. What do you folks think Is this a bad idea or do you think it is something that users would consider doing and be ok with?
I value the users feedback greatly-thanks!

I see no reason you shouldn't be compensated for your expertise and your efforts, John. I say go for it.

The web work might be tough, but I think justinguitar.com is the perfect model for someone turning free lessons into a well deserved income. I think you certainly have the knowledge to earn donations for your work.

I think that's a very good idea.
I've been married a time or two and you don't need a tip jar you need a 55 gallon barrel.

Gosh, thanks guys. I hope it doesn't lol like I am a bum looking for a handout, haha.Things are going fine, considering all I have been through? The Lord is looking after me. It's just that doing the videos now pushes me somewhat and cuts into time I could be making money. Seems like most teacher who post videos have the option to donate, so I though it time I do it too. I have even thought about making some of these videos available for sale at some point. It could be that one day I won't do them any longer and or take my YouTube page down and then they would be gone.

I'm a beginner and took lessons locally from an great old school player to start off. Finding the LOTW series is a GOLDMINE to learn from. Love the online format. Your teaching style is entertaining and relaxed, with plenty of details. Thanks so much. Looking for an easy link to the tipjar...

Great Idea - Like I told you in an email months ago, your vid lessons are better than any I have taken before and so consider the last payment sent as a first installment in your hard work. - More to follow.
"bum looking for a handout" - doesn't that describe all banjo players - LOL
Besides, you can't help it - your a Tarheels fan - Go Gators !
