Easy Irish and Celtic Melodies for 5-String Banjo: Best-Loved Airs and Session Tunes

Posted by Tom Hanway on Friday, March 1, 2013

March 2013: Mel Bay's Easy Irish and Celtic Melodies for 5-String Banjo: Best-Loved Airs and Session Tunes (MB 21598 BCD), my third tune collection with Mel Bay Publications, is officially released, in music shops worldwide in time for St. Patrick's Day, also available online as an eBook and audio download. Mel Bay page here, and this is the Mel Bay product description:

This book and accompanying audio present Irish, Celtic and British Isles folk melodies for the 5-string banjo. The book demonstrates contemporary Celtic fingerstyle banjo in G tuning using modern techniques. 32 airs and song melodies are presented, with chords written in standard notation and tablature. Play-along and up-to-speed tracks are included in the audio. The tunes are suited for beginner and intermediate players, and include practice tempo suggestions. Advanced players will also benefit by learning subtle arrangements of traditional pieces. This is the companion work to Mel Bay's Easy Irish and Celtic Tunes for 5-String Banjo: Best-Loved Jigs and Reels (2012), with 68 tunes, combining for a total of 100 Celtic melodies. The pieces can be played individually or combined for session playing.

Hi Tom. Do you also sell the book from home ? Before Christmas, Melbay offered BHO members, to buy yours and other book, at a price minus 30 %. - I tried to order, but couldn`t get the offer, or buy something, because of living in Europe...Canada couldn`t either. - First after the 1 of January, it would be possible for people over here, to buy from Melbay. - I send a mail to Melbay to ask, if it`ll be possible, that their`s offer could be used for us in Europe and Canada, after the first of January. I have never get an answer. - Melbays offer to BHO run out about Christmas.

Sorry, I don't sell from home. It's too expensive for me, so I let Mel Bay handle distribution. The last book is retailing for less than 20 euros/dollars, so it's not too expensive to buy even at normal price. Thanks for asking!

Hi again Tom. I tried Melbay. The still don`t accept orders outside US and Canada. - I looked at Eagle music web site. They don`t have then. - Now I will try to google, to see if there should be a Melbay dealer in Europe, who have the book.

There is a Mel Bay distribution in England and Europe, try:

Int. Sales Tel: +44 (0)20 8214 1023
Email: salesuk@melbay.com
Online Ordering: melbayltd.com
UK FREEFONE: 0900 432 0486

I also noticed (today but not yesterday when I checked) that there is 25% price reduction for eBooks up until 4 March, I guess for people in the States. I don't recommend getting my publications as eBooks, because they really are designed for the music stand!
