In other news, I got to play a Gibson "Earl Scruggs" model Mastertone last night at our local luthier's meeting. It was heavier than I remember my "Kirtland" banjo (featured in the article above) being, which is the heaviest and best sounding and best playing banjo I've built so far. Strangely enough, the Mastertone didn't make me any better of a player;)
