So, banjo, as a kid my dad played with a guy Joe Cook from Marietta, he played tenor banjo, ragtime, really incredible. Then the usual bluegrass influence for a southern boy, Dad took me to a fest in Lavonia Ga, about 1967 or 8, Reno/Carl Story/Bill Monroe/Jim n' Jesse...,the big "but" at about age 45 went to Fiddler's Grove, playing Miss/Delta blues with Hal Beaver for about 11 years there, all the while getting enamored with ole time banjo, bought an SS Stewart, even playin' it on a cd Hal recorded (blues), so now I've broken it out once again and am working regularly on my claw and blues with a bit of ragtime approach to some tunes. loved the "Give Me the Banjo" show.
