Am I the only one who notices this? I didnt realize there was so much rivalry in the Old-Time community. I have heard it said in bluegrass circles "That aint the way Earl did it" or in the Old-Time community "That aint the way Tommy did it" or "That aint the way Pete did it" why do you call it "this style" and why dont we "call it that" Well heck...that wasnt the way alot of em did it I bet!!
I think sometimes we let ourselves get sucked into arguing over stuff thats just not important ....are some of us that bored? But I guess it can be contagious..a few times I felt myself getting sucked in, but I am trying as best I can to stay out of certain stuff. I dont know much as it is yet when comin to banjo stuff...still "Wet behind the peghead" a little myself if you ask me.
I feel I have made alot of friends here on the BHO and you have ALL been super helpful to me. I really enjoy the BHO and am glad I found it. When you live in another country like Argentina far away from home, its nice to feel I can connect with folks who like/play good music and I am glad I jumped on this....ooops.....keerful...!! _________ ( you fill in the blank ) banjo style. I guess if some folks want to "argue over this style and that" and callin it "this style or that" thats ok with me, but I am just gonna try to stay out of it I juz pleade "plain ignorance" from now on LOL. To all of the folks here who have commented on my threads and left your valuable opinions, advice and comments and have helped me and encouraged me with the banjo in any way..I juz wanna say "Thank Yee"
I juz say let folks call it all what they want...who keers no?

Well I've always heard that us banjo pickers don't know what we're doin', so how in the world can we put name on what we don't know what we're doin' anyway...as for me...I jus pick-a-banjer...LOL

I agree with you. Music was given to us (I believe) to pleasure, and give comfort, but unfortunetly there are those that approach banjo playin like a sport or competative event or LOL, an art form. who cares how those other folks played!!! lets just have fun, and make some noise. WOOT!!

Wouldn't the world be an awful boring place if we all only ever played the way Earl or Tommy did it. What's so wrong about being different. Both Tommy and Earl were the ones doing it differently in their time.

Some folks just love to get into a good arguement.....but for me, not so much.......I'd rather "start 'em" and sit back and watch... :-D
