I feel like I have been MIA in life in general for weeks. Things at work have exploded. My time went from "limited" to "zero". My stress level is through the roof.
Here's what's interesting to me: my banjo playing is hanging in there. I never had a ton of time to practice and now I have less, but I'm improving regardless.
When I do get a chance to play it feels like a little vacation. Everything else is stress, stress, run, run. When I sit down to play, I lean back into my couch, spread my music around me and just relax into playing. It's the only chance I have to truly relax and it feels fantastic.
I have read some lately about playing with others, but I have to admit, right now, the banjo is all about me. Me alone in a quiet moment and just enjoying myself. It's the only thing in life right now I'm not fighting with. I'm just letting my playing be. The more I relax, the more I improve. I'm pleased.

Really sorry to here things are going so bad and all of the stress. I do agree with you, the banjo just makes you forget everything for a bit, hang in there, I was wondering where you were, at least you haven't given up.

Yep, some people seem to breeze through it and for some of us it's a struggle and fight every day, wish I started learning the Banjo years ago, it's a great stress reliever LOL, who would have thought, don't know if people that hear me play feel the same.

Haha. So true. Same here. Luckily, it's my kids that hear me play and they seem to think it's great.

Shelly, I think playing the banjo after a day at the office is the best stress reliever there is. It sure beats therapy!

My banjo is like my cat...just waiting for me to come over and pick it up; then it works to soothe me.

The banjo is great therapy! But, not maybe for the people who have to listen to you pick a part over and over trying to get it right! ;-)

Well Shelly I hope things are somewhat normal for you and the stress is letting up and your getting some practice in, do you think there will ever be a day when a person can say "There I know all there is to know about the Banjo" I doubt it very much, I expect to learning till they are standing around looking at me saying "He sure loved the Banjo, couldn't play worth a pinch but he loved it. LOL

Lol. I think you're right and I think that's what I like about it. After all, it's the journey that's the best part, don't you think?

Yes it is and I hope in , well say 2 more years that I keep asking for directions when I start to get lost on the journey, being a man you know how we hate to ask for directions LOL, but love it and very glad I decided to start learning the banjo.
