I am going to work out these two next tunes "Old Time Sally Ann" "Darling Nellie Gray" and then try to not learn any new ones for a while as I try to perfect what I have recently learned. I also recently posted "Old Susanna" and Mike Iversons version of John Prines "Paradise" "Crippled Creek" and "Good Ole Mountain Dew"
The purpose of my videos is not to play perfectly but record my journey as much as better..the good, the bad and the ugly. Over-all, I am very pleased with my progress and having a great time!!

Two outstanding choices, and the goal of perfecting them before moving on is wise. If you go as fast as me, you forget half of what you learned. :( I was just looking at Sail Away Ladies as performed by J.P. Fraley and wonder if it will be related to your old time Sally Ann. And Kit and I just sang Darlin' Nellie this week. The melody and words make it the classic that it is. Please post them when you're done, and I need to check out your music files as well.

Thanks Janet! - One thing I do is when I learn a song I add it to my pratice and warm-up routine that way I play them every day. I believe repetition and routine "The two "RRs" brings consistent steady improvement. What I dont want to do is burn out on a bunch of tunes. I post alot of simple clawhammer tunes with vocals quite often which are simple and fun to play, but a good instrumental..these take me longer to work out and I try not to learn to many of them at once.

Great songs Eric! And I agree wholeheartedly with Janet's comments. Repetition really helps smooth out any sections where we tend to stumble and really pays off the time put in. I'm doing the same with 'Katy Kline'. Gradually the melody is getting evened-out and the rhythm consistent. At that point it becomes easier to pay attention to phrasing and loudness. It would be nice to hear your version...
