I'm so hooked on this instrument! I went to my first jam today in many months and the first one ever with my banjo. It wasn't a slow jam by any means, but it wasn't a smoking hot one either. I took the fiddle 'cause I kinda know what I'm doing there - sorta. But being only a month into the banjo I was very hesitant to take it along. But I stuck to my guns and when the first G tune tune came around I gave it a try and found it reasonably easy and OH SO MUCH FUN! I'm only playing dum-ditty chords with alternating third and fourth string, but that was enough. I was able to change chords, keep time even on the faster tunes and even sing occasionally - all at the same time - with nerves and everything going on! I had a capo with me so I was able to play a couple of A tunes as well - but I love, love, love A tunes on the fiddle so that was a toss up at first, but the banjo eventually won. Actually, I was disappointed in my fiddle chops... practically gone. I've been playing a bit around the house, but I need to woodshed big time - IF I can tear myself away from the banjo :))

Thanks so much! But remember I'm calling playing three chords "jamming"! Ha! But it was a LOT of fun and just what I needed - as if this flame needed more fuel.

Jamming is as much a social experience as it is a musical one. If you leave with a smile it was a big success!
