The Dayton Art Institute (Museum), where I work P/T in the evenings, Has remodeled their cafe' and renamed it as "The Cafe"...... Americana type atmosphere to compliment the Norman Rockwell exhibit, American Chronicles, that just started this week. During the special exhibit, The Cafe will be having live music/poetry readings on Thursday evenings. Well I got asked/volunteered to play one evening next month....Dec. 15th. Never done anything like this before. Guess I'm a little nervous but excited as well. I've always been a little leery of getting on stage for banjo contests and such, so this, though not "on stage" is going to be a bit of a hurdle for me. If I make it over without making a complete fool of myself, I hope I'll feel more comfortable about getting stage and maybe look for opportunities to do so in the future!! I do have someone going to play dog-house bass with me, BHO'er, "MoonPie50", and provide for moral support...LOL Wish me luck and we'll see how it goes....
By the way, if you're in or passing through the Dayton area, stop in and see the Norman Rockwell exhibit. Its amazing....!!!

Break a leg, Greg! Just don't be surprised that a venue with food has lots of people more interested in the food than the music. If you become musical wallpaper, it's because they want to eat and drink! On the other hand, maybe they will listen. So, either way, be relaxed about it. It's your show - play it your way.

ha ha!!! Just ran across this after getting back on the hangout. Man I sure had a lot of fun pickin with ya Ratler. You have inspired me to pick the ole 5 string back up and blow the dust off my murphy dvd's lol. I forgot how much fun the banjo was. It will give me something to do this winter while it is cold out side. Besides beatin on the bass. I just wanted everyone to know how great you did at DAI. I sure enjoyed seeing Gibby again too, it was really a fun time.
