Congrats to Deering Eagle II winner Jamie Kidwell!

Posted by schlange on Monday, October 3, 2011

Jamie hails from Independence, MO and   and  and picks with the Blue and Gray Pickers. He currently plays a beautiful Gibson RB-800 (which actually belongs to his wife). Hopefully the new Deering will give him the chance to experiment with some new sounds!

A big thank-you goes out to Janet Davis for sponsoring the giveaway. She's always been a generous supporter of the BHO, so be sure to check out JDMC if you're in the market for a new banjo, parts, accessories, etc!

I am so excited! This kind of stuff never happens to me! Thanks so much to the hangout and Janet Davis. If I need any banjo info this is where I go first. I order all my strings, picks, tuners etc. from JDMC and have done so for years. I bought my first "good" banjo from her, which I sold a long time ago, and she was the best to work with. She let me pick it up in person and set it up when I wasn't happy with the sound. Wish I still had that banjo! Thanks again to everyone. This website and it's members are the best! "Things are going to start happening to me now!" --Navin R. Johnson, (The Jerk). I'm way more excited than he was when he got his name in the phone book!

Sorry to say none of the clips are of me. They are all the former banjo pickers. I want to give credit where credit is due. The guy playing Charmane was my first teacher when I was 15 years old for about a year. My cousin plays the fiddle ( and everything else). He is a phenom! One of the best musicians I know. I'm not being biased either because I really don't care for the guy. Just kidding. We are best of friends. We're the same age, grew up in the same town. He progressed a little faster than I did! Serious musician. Played fiddle with Joe Diffie, Shooting Star ( yes the rock band), countless others. JDMC said I should get the banjo next week. I'll post a video so everyone can hear how it sounds. Maybe I'll get the cuz over and have the wife sing a tune in the video. Thanks for all the congrats.
