If just added a couple of pictures of the Lyon & Healy banjo all cleaned up and fixed. Installed a new calfskin, bridge and 5th peg / tuner. Cleaned and oiled the wood and slightly cleaned up the silver toned brass work.
The action is still pretty high on this banjo, even with a 1/3 height bridge. I can't bow the neck anymore back like it is now. The best thing would be to reposition the dowel stick, but I'm afraid of breaking it. The string action is playable and the distance between head and strings is pretty close.. it is hard to play over the head without occasionally tapping the head with knuckles and thumb.
I'm not used to a real skin head and humidity has been going up and down a lot this summer in New Hampshire, varying the head tension from day to day.
Certainly a banjo with a character of it's own, makes me wonder what she's been through the last 100 years!
