I have been pickin for 5 years ( age 56) > I am better than some, but not good enough to hang with a band. Is this normal? I am feeling very frustrated.

Best thing to do would be find "jammers" at your level and grow together. Many of my students who started later have done this and out of that experience have formed bands with folk the enjoy picking with. Also, contact Angie's Banjos as she specializes in posting things relavent to the expieriences of older beginners. Good luck, Eddie
