Hi there, well this time last week I was in a mammoth pickin session or stuffing my face (more like stuffing my face)! The music was fantastic, and the people and the weather too!!
Went to the workshop of Barry Abernathy (of Mountain Heart), an amazing player, anyone went to Didmarton UK last year must know what I mean! He had in his workshop Aaron Ramsey on mandolin (although he plays all instruments) and Jake Stargel on guitar. They kicked off with Fireball Mail and Barry played it just as it was like Earl playing!! The other two guys were pretty good too!! No they were al fantastic just sitting in that was worth the trip to Ireland.
I done a lot of pickin with my old friends Dic, Eric, Sean and Ken who came over with me. And met up with Eddie another old mate from Ireland. Dic and Eric put us up on their boats and we had some great sessions on there. Sean was our Taxi man and history man. These guys certainly know how to make you feel at home! I didn't want come back home but I had to I had a date with a nurse ...... my FLU JAB!!
Mountain Heart played the Sat night so we bought tickets to see them and again they were just awesome, not your trad bluegrass but powerful stuff and I'm sure if you wanted trad grass they could do because these guys have been brought up on it. They have a new CD soon and its on my list.
The only downside of the trip I could mention is that it went way too quick, and we were getting to bed at 3 & 4 am and up againg at 9.30am, just shows you that time can really fly, oh and talking of flying Ryanair are bugging me real bad try using their online booking site (I think they need a 5 year old to design their site)!
Must get back out there even just to see Dick, Eric and Sean to have some more great pickin and meet all the folks. If you've never been to the festival I suggest you do it is fantastic!!
See my new photos!!

Sounds like you had a fantastic time. I wish I went to this. Yeah I have relatives in France who have to get me to book their ryanair tickets for them when they come over as they say 'its too complicated! can you do it for us' . I do it but i admit it takes a LONG time.
