I recently built a garage, and since I'm a musician and not much of a wrench bender, I thought I'd use 1/3 of the space for a dedicated music studio/picking parlor. I added infloor heat to the package with multiple zone controls....I live in Northern Minnesota where it can be -40F in December and January--heck maybe even in April.
I finished the room: sheetrock, trim, laminate flooring, painted it in bright cheery colors and furnished it with comfy armless chairs......and a beverage frig. All my instruments are stored on organized shelves, I have WiFi for my computer and my recording equipment has a place to live permanently. That's all cool, but not the important part.
Last evening I invitied some friends over to jam. It was a dream come true. We've all been so busy with jobs and family stuff. We've had recent losses of family members and friends, and have had some personal health issues. Well, the frig opened and the conversation started......and we played and sang and talked and played and sang....and the frig opened...and....well, I think you get it. I love this music....its roots are social...front porch/backporch pickin'. I've met some really great friends in this roots music scene, and I hope we can continue to enjoy the jam for many more years.

After spending time, money and energy in ceating your Utopia, that seems a very nice place to be with your friends...... and you banjo. Many happy jamming days.

Tedd, I bet you are the most popular guy on the block with these facilities. Very envious of your cave. Good to hear that the music is getting you all through some bad times.........Regards Peter V.

Nice post Tedd. As a willing participant in your Cave jam, I walked away thinking the same thing. Good music, good beer and stellar banjos - what can be better?
