Yes, sometimes we absolutely hate our banjos, wish we had better ones that worked better, (trust me, I know that story), but we have to admit, we do like some things about our banjos.
My '50's American Kay I absolutely love. Nice, controllable sound, and absolutley beautiful. It has gold on the headstock and a red-tailed hawk holding a rattlesnake in it's talons on the resonator back, perched on a stump with a sunflower before it, a sun in on corner and a crescent moon in the bottom one. I painted it, it is really good if I do say so myself.
The 'jo is like a paradox to the modern banjo world with its sixteen brackets and single coordinator rod. I do not believe it even has a truss rod, I think the neck is just solid rosewood with no real fretboard. It is a very controllable banjo and has it's own 'tremolo' effect. That's what I like about my favorite one... What do you like about yours?

Hi Bailey. If your age is right on your profile, I`d have to say it sounds like you are beyond your years, some good wisdom on your part and a good topic. I`m fortunate enough to have had a few good and expensive banjos that I really liked but recently aquired the keeper banjo I don`t think I will ever trade or sell. I love everything about my banjo! Part of the problem with people and banjos is that they keep searching and searching for something they may never find. Love the banjo you have, play it make it your own and a part of you. Take care and keep on pickin`
By the way you should post your question in the forums as more people will read it and respond.

Yes my age is right.

So I made mine different.

I like mine primarily because I built them, but I was also fortunate in that they turned out to play well, and sound good. My second favorite banjo I owned a few years ago; an Earl Scruggs Standard.
