Oh, come on! I have never seen another banjo player in my life besides myself! There are no other banjo players within about 60 miles of me. No fair! And there are no fiddlers or bass players that I know of; but there is a mandolin player who sometimes jams with me; sometimes.
Oh, there's tons of guitar players, too many actually; who can't play worth nothin. But all they do is make fun of me for being a banjo player!
So as you can imagine, it gets extremely boring playing along with C-Ds after so long. It's driving me nuts! Everybody's going to jams! Everywhere but here! This old town is no fun; you can't even busk around here, even if you sound good; you'll scare the people away!
But here goes trying to go down to the Bluegrass & barbeque festival this May in Branson. I might just be loading up a banjo and a fiddle for nothing; but it's worth a try! (besides, I can't go more than eight hours without picking or sawing) Anybody else going?

Hello Bailie - 50.4 miles to the heart of St. Louis look for the Folk School of Music - they have jams and activities all the time. Here is their website http://www.folk-school.com/
These people are very friendly! You may hook-up with someone that travels from your area to the Folk School. Good luck!
