Lots of string buzz these days on the old Denver Belle. I truely like the sounds of the Alvarez and I think it can be a good banjo for me. However, I HAVE TO get this thing professionally setup. There's no denying it now. If I can just find someone locally, or at least within the same state that can do this for me, I'll jump right on it.
After posting some questions on line at BHO, I started looking at the truss rod and found it to be loose. So, I tightened it and most of the buzz went away. I then re-tightened the tuners and that helped even more. I can still detect a light buzz on the third string, but it's VERY light now. I am also noticing that some of my frets may need replacing. Oh well, such is the joy of the banjo... Tweak here, tweak there. It's only money, right?
Oh, and I am cosnidering saving some money for a new banjo this summer. I'm thinking something in the $2500-3500 range would be about right.
