changing a tone ring

Posted by wpowers737 on Saturday, March 10, 2007

I'm an enthusiastic new banjo player and I just bought a Fender fb58.  It has a diecast metal tone ring and I'm wondering if it would be worth changing to a brass tone ring.  Any thoughts?

There is to many good banjos for under a 1000 dolars . I would save till I could get one Gold star, Recording King, would be a great step ahead.

Even if you upgrade the ring, you still have the multiply rim that will keep you from maximum potential in tone.I think Old Man is right.
