STEVE MARTIN at Royal Festival Hall

Posted by phill on Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Well folks if you didn't go to this show then you missed a cracking show of pure entertainment!

From the start to the finish (after three encores I think), it was fantasic. I met a couple of bluegrassers Norman Jones from Plymouth came up and Phil Alexander was there. The place was packed. Steve had with him The Steep Canyon Rangers with him a great band in their own right.

Steve performed songs/tunes from his album The Crow. I had prime seats right in the front. Steve is a great player from frailing to finger picking. I loved the gospel song Steve had written, The Steep Canyon Rangers did a fantasic version of "When I get To Heaven" (I think that's the correct title).

There were comedy songs mixed in with some great instrumentals and of course Steve's witty humour. I've always loved Steve's comedy in his films and when he has used his banjo in his stand up comedy.

Yes it was a great night I'll remember for a long time, thanks Steve and The Steep Canyon Rangers for a great show, hope he'll come back again!!!
