Progress Report

Posted by dgill on Monday, February 9, 2009

It is time for another update relating to me learning to play the banjo and to share the love of my new granddaughter with the world of banjo lovers.  Kylie is getting prettier every day and is growing like a bad weed.  We are blessed to have her in our life as a new member of our clan.  I have taken four lessons with an instructor and have practiced every day.  I can now play Bile Them Cabbage Down and Banjo In The Hollow.  I am working on hitting the notes clearly and accurately before moving on to increasing my speed.  I am also using the Banjo Primer and the Murphy Method, both are great tools.  My family offers their praise and it keeps me motivated and even lets me think I am making some progress.  I am playing a Rogue B30 and a RK Sonny Osborne Scout.  It has great sound and is a real pleasure to play.  Anyone with advise or an interest in just plain helping a newbie, drop me a line.  PS:  If you just love you grandchildren and want to let the banjo world know, drop that line too.  See ya til next time and say a pray for Jon Eric and his family during the loss of his sister.  Jon is a great motivator and mentor and we wish him well during this very tough time.

Sounds like you and I have alot in common. Got my first banjo for Christmas and am working on Boil 'em cabbage down. I, unlike you, have a few years to wait for the grandchild. I have "rentals" from others I know around me though. Congrats on the new grandbaby!
