I have a banjo which was left to me by a friend when he passed. It is a mixture of nickel and gold plated parts. It was apparently stored in a damp place and all the parts - gold included - are cloudy. I have no problem with cleaning up the nickel parts, but what do I do with the gold? I know the coating is thin, and I don't want to destroy it!

Windex and a soft cloth
