New tailpiece and bridge

Posted by rdeputy on Sunday, January 4, 2009

I made some long-awaited upgrades to my banjo over the holidays. I replaced the original clamshell tailpiece and original bridge on my Washburn B-17 with a new Fultz Cumberland tailpiece and Snuffy Smith compensated bridge. I also put on a new set of Gibson Earl Scruggs strings. During the conversion, I checked the head tension with a drum dial and it was right where I wanted it all the way around, so I finally feel like I have the banjo set up the way I want. Now, If I can just make myself play it better...

"Now, If I can just make myself play it better..."

There's a trick to that -- practice all the time. ;^/

I've got the Cumberland on mine too. Those things are so well made. I've actually considered ordering another Fults as a conversation piece/ table art sort of thing.

Glad you're set up and ready to go! BTW, that new BHO shirt looks good on you.
