After a 22 year layoff, I am reacquainting myself with playing plectrum banjo again. I am hoping to use this blog as a diary of my progress in reacquainting myself with this fine instrument.
I first learned to play at age 15, and I will tell you that my hands hurt more now at 47 trying to start over than they initially did 32 years ago. Oh to be young again!!
I am working with Don Van Palta's program. Lesson 2 is introducing me to a new means of C7 that I don't recall ever seeing or using before. It's been a challenge. Maybe I'll someday look back at this blog entry and laugh at that last sentence.
I've also been teaching myself "Happy Birthday" by ear and plan to play it for my wife Diane in a few. Her big day is January 2nd. I always try to give her unique gifts. As far as I know, she has never been serenaded before. Knowing her, I am sure she will be touched by the thought that I worked very hard learning to play it just for her.

Very good ; A very good old friend of mine plays Plectrum style and I'm always hoping I can find time to learn a bit of that style from him before He's gone.Good luck to you and Happy Birthday to your Gal.
Happy New Years.
