My new, closet-case banjo arrived with old strings that were evenly corroded all over - obviously needed replacement. When I looked at the tuners I was amazed at how the original owner had installed the strings. They were perfectly wound, one wrap after another on top of the previous wrap - just like a factory supplied spool of rope. I was amazed. Of course when I installed my new strings, try as I may...well, they look like something the "cat drug' in". How in the world did the man do it???
