Having just bought my first prewar and it is a composite, flathead with a 1 piece flange. The Huber ring lacks approx .020" contacting the outer rim bead. Barely enough space to get a fingernail in. It rests snuggly on the inside lip of the ring. It seems to me it would be a simple matter of sanding the top of the rim down on a large , flat board with sandpapaer glued to it, but I can't help but wonder if this will affect the action/ setup, etc How much does this lack of contact hinder the sound?
