I jam with mostly 'country' folks, and am wondering if there are many folks here that play country tunes.

Although alot of bluegrass tunes are also country.

I wonder what country music is...good songs are where you find them. We play anything that has a good tune or a good poem in it. We do a lot of Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and stuff they used to call country music. I like the saying that "Bluegrass pickers are a close-knit family...they all know the same 12 songs."

Hey Gord, Earlier this week two songs nominated on the country music awards were by Josh Turner and Rodney Attkins both had banjo and mandalins. I mix up my music listening at work from bluegrass to classic rock to country and have noticed that more new country tunes are implementing the banjo, so turn on your local country station and check it out. I plan on getting Josh Turners CD for the songs "Will you go with me" and "Long Black Train" I saw the tab for LBT somewhere if I come across it I will send you a link.

Our singer calls them "cowboy" songs. We love classic country and that's about 75% of what we play.

By "country blues" do you mean the form of blues sung in Mississippi by many Delta blues guys, Jimmy Rogers and Sam McGee (Sam played the banjo and wrote "Blue Night" among others) or the "cry in your beer" country stuff from the '70's on? There is a big difference.

I sometimes play with a band very much as beegee has described. They don't play much bluegrass or so-called modern country music.
