Thats really sad.. I feel for him...I also have received threats via banjo hangout. Even a few from this topic and a nasty call from someone in Georgia. Im an adult I can handle it, but to threaten a kid is a sad sad thing.
My 10 years at Opryland I had similar problems. Other banjo pickers would see me playing there and would call the police and claim that I was a drug dealer and stuff like that to get me fired. But after being searched and falsely arrested I turned the tables on them . The police would trace the calls and arrest the people for wasting the police time. and interfering with Opryland convention entertainment. One guy lost his farm and studio after Opryland took them to civil court.
Its like pulling a fire alarm when there's no fire.

When people threaten people its never good

What's wrong with people. Why can't they debate with out the anger and name calling and statements like "What I'm seeing here is jealousy." On this thread I have been called Jealous and other stuff. Sad folks real sad. Its not that hard to debate without anger. The BHO even gives things like to prevent such a thing but it still happens.
for example If i say "I have checked the rec and it doesn't fly " then a correct response would be something like " >>>" ill check it to see if your correct Glenn or I don't believe you Glenn or I like Todd know matter what people say" but instead is insults and mean stuff.

I wish the best for Todd and hope they find them crazy people.

I stand by my first post.

oh by the way you post tripled for some reason. you might want to delete the duplicates. I hope that you posting this doesn't blow the police investigation As an ex gov worker at a Recon base i can tell you that announcing a police investigation is illegal and can severely hamper the capture of such people. for example if they read your post they will not call him again and thus the police would have less evidence.

you know it would be cool if there was a "how to respond to post topic some where that people could use as a guide to help cut down on the personal insults. It seems that happens a lot lately

One of the biggest problems with this whole topic is that World Book of Guinness claiming that someone is the world fastest is a lot different than BHO stating it. the BHO is full of great pickers and they have different standards than Guinness. Who made Guinness the world expert at banjo.

once again I would like to invite you to www.banjolounge.com to discuss this in person. I find that a live voice discussion can eliminate anger and both people benefit. No one will bother you there and you can let it fly. Just keep in mind that there are kids there also so no cussing please.

Jadie peged it of course

Perhaps here is a good time to announce some things to those reading this

Ive just been informed that a couple people here on the hangout have taken their antics WAAAAAAY further than is socially or legally acceptable. Todd has not only had to endure hateful posts on his myspace site by these people but they took it to the level of internet and actual phone stalking and harassement.

Todd has contacted the police in these peoples hometown WEEKS ago and they have monitored the situation and invited Todd to file formal legal complaints against two individuals (both hangout members), which he will be doing

As was said, everyone is entitled to their opinion and the right to state it ... but there is a line

Scott

Banjoman, the marathon I was in was in Ft. Lauderdale in 1974, I think, because I left Florida in '75. It was sponsored by some local radio station and the guy who won was named Rich something. I misstyped because he lasted 24 or so hours and won. It was supposedly for the Guiness Book, but since I have never read one, I don't know if it was official or not. I was ready to quit after 3 hours. the noise was dreadful.

Obviously I never came up with anything to make or break a world record, so I can enjoy Todd's record that he worked hard for. Say what you will about being off time and what have you I still think it is cool. I can live my childhood dream vicariously through Todd.

Todd ...one of the reasons your getting so much flack is you keep re posting self glorifying post. If someone complements you just be happy they did. But when you re post them it kinda looks like your tooting you own horn.

I would like to thank all the complemtery e-mails I got this morning from this topic... Only one bad one and over 30 good ones...But i have asy this...Don't be afraid to post it your self. A lot of the e-mails stated that people were afraid to post in fear that they would get throwed out of the BHO...The BHO does not toss people for constructive critique. Just be cool about what you post. You can call someone out or disagree with them without getting bared from the BHO..Just because some supplier is big or some banjo picker is famous is no reason to be afraid of them. Please ,,instead of e-mailing me just state it in a post. If you state it in a wrong way the mods usually give a warning and you can correct it and still get your point across

I have never in my life threatened Todd Taylor or harrassed him.

He tried to add me on myspace, I asked him who he played with, he gave me a snooty response saying he played with whoever he wanted to play with that he was TODD TAYLOR.

I told him I knew he was a scam and he then called my office number the next morning at 7:30am. When I called him back he threatened to have me arrested for harrasment on the internet.

All I did was tell him I wasnt adding him, ask him to leave me alone and hes calling me telling me he knows where I live etc.

I told him to BRING IT.

Todd you threatened to kick my &^% . I have it recorded brother. I am willing to create a sound file and let the rest of this forum see and listen to how innocent you really are.

I also know several nurses at Emory. ;)

You may not be the most talented banjo player but you are entertaining to say the least.

I hope we meet one day it should be interesting. I dont like being harrassed myself. Do yourself a favor and leave me alone. If you dont want folks to criticize your playing going to a banjo forum might be a bad idea.

You can't get arrested for telling someone they played a song incorrectly. I haven't criticized Todd, thats against the rules.
Ive only talked about his playing and tactics. The authorities are gonna laugh harder than I am.

Scott, since you wanna bring that up:
Todd went around mentioning to my friends at Banjo.com my name in conjunction with something that didn't involve me to start with. I DO NOT appreciate people spreading rumors and lies.
Lets not mention the nasty phonecalls/threats he gave my friend that there is proof of.

I personally never called Todd nor did I talk to him on phone. I sent him two messages. One asking him where i could find his touring schedule. He didn't respond. The other simply read, "I heard you wanted to talk to me." He didn't respond to that either. Yeah, some harrassment there.

Anything else i've said can be found on this forum. I have EVERY right to say something isn't correct when it's not.

I've endured worse criticism about my own playing and never have i felt the need to act as he has. If you can't handle it then don't throw your achievements on people.

He needs to simply slow the metronome down a bit and play correctly, like im sure he is capable of. He don't need to be playing it any faster until he gets it right at this speed. Thats not jealously, thats pure observation.

Glenn, you are correct; people are afraid to speak up on this forum. They are afraid to get kicked off. However, the rules clearly stated discussing someones picking is fine but criticizing the person isn't.
