No one seems to have mentioned this disaster which happened two days ago. Plenty of YouTube videos. An in-land tsunami, amazing to see multi-story buildings wiped out in less than a second.

My heart goes out to these folk.

Absolutely no warning and no chance of survival for so many. Terrible event.

Just saw a report the flood was moving at 120(!) mph. With the added weight of the rocks and mud, no wonder it took everything out.

My heart goes out to everyone out there.  Glacier breakup was the cause. Glaciers in the Canadian Rockies are also melting at a fast rate.

Here's a really good (and very brief) description of what happened from a professional engineer. He shows satellite images before and after ...

Apparently a large chunk of ice 8/10 mile wide broke off and fell 4,000 feet to the valley below beginning its slosh downhill, also about 4,000 feet in elevation. That really large building being taken out in those videos was 13 miles away. It took 7 minutes to get there and wipe everyone out and keep on going.

I think we're in for a whole lot more of this all over. A huge ice shelf is about to collapse in Antarctic, about the size of Great Britain. That should be a real doozy when it finally breaks loose...

So, I guess this is the tip of the iceberg, literally I guess ... ?

I guess all of us will stay tuned.
