Here's a beautiful Hawaiian tune (Hula Medley) that Sonny Chillingsworth taught me when I lived in Oahu Hawaii for 7 years. Sonny learned from the great Gabby Pahinui....Jack p.s. I will also attach a very well known Hawiian Classic Slack Key Tune written by Sonny Chillingsworth...I was very lucky to have met and studied with Sonny for a few years...Ledward Kaapana certainly took Slack Key to new levels and it was beautiful...

Nice, Jack. Love me some ki ho 'alu island guitar! Way back in ought-13 I did a clawhammer arrangement of Maui No Ka Hoi for BNL. One of my all-time favorite albums is the one Ry Cooder made with the Pahinui Brothers; Brudda Iz had a musical soul as big as himself; and there were no better duo harmonists than Olamana. You were lucky to have spent seven years in the Paradise of the Pacific soaking up all those sweet sounds.

Thanks so much Tim....Working directly with the Native Hawaiians like Sonny, and I met Gabby, a few times back in the 50s long before the Dancing Cat folks from California made Slack Key popular. I'm not sure Ry Cooder, good as he was, ever got the "Sway" of Slack Key down--it was really for the Hula Dancers back in those days. I got to play on Don Hos weekend show on banjo and the called me the Haoli boy from the States with nervous banjo and was a lot of fun. His band was incredible, especially their bird calls.
Don, Arthur Lyman, Martin Denny were all Volley Ball freaks in their days. I will never forget my time in Hawaii....Jack
