Hi everyone,

I'm trying to learn “Chilly Winds” by ear.

A lot of people say they play the song based on Bertie Mae, but I can't find a recording of hers.

I'm also open to sheet music or tabs :)

Thanks

You don't indicate what style of playing you prefer, but there are two versions in the tab library:

Bluegrass - Chilly Winds Tab - Details and Ratings - Banjo Hangout

Oldtime - Chilly Winds Tab - Details and Ratings - Banjo Hangout

Brad Leftwich plays a version based on Bertie Mae Dickens - Bertie May's Chilly Winds

Nora Brown also plays a version - Bertie Mae's Chilly Winds - Nora Brown

Thanks.

I still can't decide on a playing style,
but in this case, I'd prefer two fingers.
I'm already familiar with the tabs and some of the recordings; everyone says they learned it from Bertie Mae Dickens, which is why I'm curious.

I'm already working on it—this song really invites you to experiment.
But I always enjoy listening to the oldest recordings I can find.

YouTube and Slippery Hill each have several old recording of Bertie Mae Dickens, but I don't see "Chilly Winds."
