Hey all, I’m looking for a Moon-style compensated banjo bridge in 3/4” height, and I’m wondering if they actually exist or if they’re mostly limited to standard heights. I know 3/4” bridges are already pretty rare, so I’m not sure if this is something that’s even commonly made or just something that would have to be special ordered.

Also, does anyone know who actually manufactures Moon bridges these days, or is it more of a reseller/small-shop branding situation? Any info or pointers on where to find one would be appreciated.

I know Pisgah makes a Eclipse bridge in 3/4", but its "3-D printed from sustainable plant based bio-plastic", which I'm skeptical about. Call me old-fashioned, but like the idea of a wood bridge.

I could make a 3/4 Moon bridge,but I don't know if it would be legal or not.

There are some really good bridge makers here on the hangout. I’m sure most can and will make you a compensated bridge 3/4 tall I’m not sure if they’ll make it like a moon shape. I have a couple of really nice Randy Stockwell 5/8 moon bridges but none 3/4. Best of luck.

Moon bridges are made by Randy Stockwell. Elderly Instruments sells them for $45. The tallest is 11/16" with a 4" radius. The weights are Light, Medium and Heavy

For greater heights you can add some wood to the feet.

Just in case you are a 3 finger style picker who plants the ring and/or little finger on the head, bridges taller than 11/6" are not recommend.

@S_D. I have a Moon bridge that is 23/32" high. Heavy weight. Not quite 3/4", but close. I'm willing to part with it if you're interested.

Bela uses a 1 inch bridge to great success.

I think he has average size hands.

I have hands that can "palm" a basketball.Could I use a 2 ' bridge?

Yup, he does and by the looks of it he's still ok with it. Also, to be clear: folks who do not plant their ring or little finger[s] on the head and "float" the hand above the string have nothing to worry about.

For the non-floaters though, the folks who do plant their fingers: with tall bridges you have to curl your index and middle finger so crazy tight that it COULD become painful for the fingers, the wrist and even the arm. It doesn't bother everybody but it is the way it works out for many. Should not be worth the risk. YMMV...

My hand position is traditional as is Bela's,I believe.
I've tried a 7/8 bridge and my hand position is still normal.
I'd love to have a 5 degree neck and try a 1 incher.
