being a carpenter and melodic style wanna be--I came up with my own term '' stair step scale ''a few years back--I notice that the super picker Cody Looper used the term in his interview--I am slightly curious if it was also--a natural invention by others --the patent office has a term called obvious for such inventions--I also have another blue collar term--''stacked double stops''--and tend to say reading music notation increments is the same as reading a tape measure-

What does your term "stair step scale" refer to or describe? And what did Cody use it to describe?
Is it just the linear ascending or descending nature of a scale? Or some type of multi-note or note skipping scale pattern, such as 1-3, 2-4, 3-5, 4-6, 5-7, 6-8, 7-9, 8; or 1-2-3-1, 2-3-4-2 . . . etc.
In either case, I'd say you and Cody might have independently coined the term (as might have others) but the underlying concept (scales go up and down in sequence or with skipped notes) is not original to any known person (I would assume).

stairwells have landings at each precise numbers of steps--the classic descending licks mimic this in my mind--molly bloom starts with one--
