There's a small hole in my skin head on my tubaphone near the neck. Is there anything I can do to delay its growth and eventual splitting? Glue? Tape?

Hi Maxine

Had the same question a few weeks ago banjohangout.org/topic/407864 Got a bunch of replies, ended up cutting a small piece of vellum and super gluing it to the back of the hole with the tension slightly loosened. Worked fine.

Cheers
John

Two options.

Ignore it. I have had a small hole in one of my skin heads for close to 40 years. It was there when I got it back then. No issue with playability or tone.

Repair it with superglue and a small patch of vellum from another skin head. Maybe a member here can supply you with a small scrap.

If the above options are not to your liking- secure a new head.
