Perhaps the lister of the OP ebay auction posted a few dark and out of focus photos of the side of the rim on a message board, then decided, after searching google for "banjo", that they had a Weaver something.
Also, there was a time in the not too distant past where it was believed that "Weaver" built all kinds of banjos including the CE Professionals and Wood Hoop Specials. Perhaps this is a carryover?
In the US, for the folk revival generation, everything is "Vega". More recently, everything has become one of three makes "Stewart", "Dobson", or "Buckbee". It is never specified which "Dobson".

Yes, but it might be a nice zither-banjo though, maybe Clifford Essex (blank metal badge on the headstock) or Essex & Cammeyer, if it's still playable. They can sound nice for non-bluegrass three-finger picking. Not very wanted though, and not very rare either. Offers will tend to be on the low side…

Looks like a Barnes and Mullins Lyratone, with an Abbott made neck possibly an original combination as Abbott did make necks for B&M. Maybe a non original reso, but if it were closer I`d have a bid. I reckon it would sound great.

I see the Vega style neck brace, not original for B & M who used quite an interesting bit of engineering for their neck brace. Reinforces Steves opinion of a marriage.

Hi Deke. Dave Stacey fitted the neck so I would assume he would have fitted that brace. Dave is a master craftsman so the work will be excellent.

Yes I think so. I have put a buy it now in. I have that Lyranite tenor neck that was butchered if you recall Steve, I am hoping to use this rim to make a whole one again!
