Hello, fellow banjoists of the world:



As I'm sure many of you remember, there used to be a periodical called Banjo Newsletter. It's how we five-string maniacs kept up on who was doing, read interviews with banjo royalty, and tried tabs of what they played. It stopped publication five years ago and I mourn its loss. It struck me recently that if I want to read banjo interviews maybe I should do them myself.



And so I have. I've created a newsletter, Banjo Head Magazine, which is right now a Substack newsletter. I plan on having weekly interviews with banjo heroes and also banjo amateurs who have managed to carve out a banjo space for themselves.



The first of these interviews, with Tony Trischka, about his soon to be released Earl Jam 2, is already up. And if you subscribe you will soon see interviews with BB Bowness, Ryan Cavanaugh, Max Wareham, and even an unearthed interview with Bill Keith, among many more . . . all with tabs of a break from one of their latest endeavors. It is mostly free, though I appreciate any contribution to these efforts.



I hope some day to make this an actual print newsletter that arrives in an actual mailbox, but I think it's best to start small. If you might kindly head over to Substack and check it out, I would be mighty grateful:

When I clicked on the link, I got a web page with a field for an email address and an orange colored "Subscribe" block. Below that was the text: "By subscribing, you agree Substack's Terms of Use, and acknowledge its Information Collection Notice and Privacy Policy."



I don't need another subscription.

Thank you John and Nick! . . . And anyone else that's checked it out. I do listen to Picky Fingers (how can you not) and would love to speak to Billik. If I keep putting this out every week (and I'm set for at least two months) I can cover a good number of banjo players in a year . . .
