Hey all,
I've been playing Tenor banjo for a few years, coming to the instrument from guitar. I've been fortunate to find myself on some good tenor banjo gigs, but was always wanting some shorter solo tunes to warm up with on the bandstand. I think I finally found what I was looking for with the book Ragtime Banjo for Tenor or Plectrum Banjo from Mel Bay. There are some great gems by Roy Smeck and Scott Joplin that sound lovely as solos and aren't near the isolating insanity of Harry Reser's tunes. While I was learning a couple of Smeck rags I had trouble finding any videos or audio of them, so I recorded them and put them on YT. I took some liberties with the Crackerjack Rag by adding more tremolo/glissandi but other than that chose to stick to the ink. I may record a few more as time goes on, but here's the links to two of them. Note: this is a bit of a crosspost from the Soundoff forum, but I also wanted to use this as a chance to recommend the book should any of you be searching for material.

If any of you have video or audio of the tunes from this collection, I'd love to check them out.
Thanks! -Zac
