I have had to resort to fingerpicks after a fingernail injury. I like the sound produced by Fred Kelly Delrin picks but, like many people, I find them to be too tight and difficult to reshape. I made a short video showing how I modified them to make them much more comfortable. Here is the link youtube.com/watch?v=zfOEwkwMriY

I also modify the Fred Kelly pick. I take off the ‘wings’ that come down the sides of your finger, then I round off the inside curves where the cuts are that I made. This is a big improvement IMO. The inside curve near the cuticle was especially troublesome, my cuticle becoming painful after not that much playing.
I’ve found that I can bend the material to make the pick larger so it fits better, but it’s not easy. It takes really hot water and a willingness to possibly break the pick. I’ve opened up the picks until they’re almost flat. If you don’t take it to the limit it will spring back and you won’t have gained anything.
